Tinkerman, stinkerman...

It would appear that one of football's most likeable fellows has turned to the dark side. The amiable, almost loveable, Claudio Ranieri is to be manager of Juventus. The question is, how are we going to manage to hate him?

Throughout his time at Fiorentina, Chelsea, Parma and the rest he remained one of the nicest chaps in the game. He was eloquent, self-deprecating and humourous. In short, everything you would not expect of a Bianconero.

The question has to be asked, have the Juventini turned over a new leaf? Or will they convert him to their ways? Will we soon find a new curt, arrogant and short-tempered Claudio? Surely not. Nonetheless, it is an interesting clash of cultures as the "Stile Juve" goes up against the Tinkerman. Who will come out on top?

I'm not going to mention the Faroe Islands.

I had the same problem with Paul Le Guen at Rangers. I never could hate the guy.

And after last season he's actually now a bit of a hero....

I'm just glad he didn't go to Man City...

What are you basing "Stile Juve" on? The two years Capello was on the bench? Or do you believe that Deschamp, Lippi, Ancelotti, and Trapattoni were curt, arrogant and short-tempered coaches? Or has Moggi become the definitive face and symbol of Juve, and not the heroes like Del Piero and Buffon, nor the Fiat/Agnelli connection, nor the historic symbols like Zizou and Platini?

Up yer bum!!!

I've never rated Ranieri that highly as a coach. We'll have to see how he goes, I suppose. I just watched his interview on La Gazzetta dello Sport website. He spoke well...

Yeah great interview by Ranieri. He has a string perosnality and i think he will be fine, he has too much experience to let the "Stile Juve" change him into a curt, arogant coach.

It will be interesting to see nevertheless.

Martino

As the Pope said to Le Guen in his last days at Ibrox - "Come home, mission accomplished".

In some ways I would have liked to see him back in English football but not particularly at Man City.

I'm basing it on how most Juventini see themselves - superior to everyone around them. Indeed, it was they that coined the term. And it was used to put down the likes of Roberto Baggio who was not considered worthy of such a great club.

To be fair, none of the Coaches you mention was particularly snotty. But, equally, none was as nice as Ranieri. So, I think the comment still stands, I've never liked a Juve boss as much as him.

By the way, just because I don't like them doesn't mean I don't have plenty of admiration for them.

Name yourself and come forward for the challenge with pride! I think next year will be a great one. As I posted previously, although Juve are the great enemy - Serie A was poorer without them.

Exactly my point. Whatever way you look at it, it is an intriguing appointment...

I don't think Juve have displayed any arrogance since Moggi/Giraudo got the ass. On the contrary, I think they've been relatively humble.
Good for Ranieri to be rewarded and recognised. I hope he proves his worth.
