Magical Mirko!

After the bitter taste of Tuesday what a joy to see Roma keep Italian football to the fore with a gutsy display in Madrid. If only we could play Spanish teams every week...

The game was cagey throughout but the Giallorossi kept their cool but it was Mirko Vucinic who turned the match. He came on for Mancini and put in a virtuoso display - hitting the crossbar, getting a man sent off and scoring the vital second which killed off the tie.

The team also showed it had learned a few lessons from the terrible thumping it took in Manchester not so long ago. They may not go on to win the thing but they should at least be nobody's idea of an easy draw in the quarter finals.

Forza Magica Roma!
Showed some maturity over the 2 legs and deserved to go through.

What the hell is Cannavaro doing there? They're so average.

The ref was awful but who cares? Like to land Schalke or Fenerbahce in the next round!

Its been a great season in the CL so far. Does anyone really want to change it?

I'd love to see Roma in the final.

Fiorentina got a good win too. An away goal in the next leg and they will progress, you'd have to think Everton wouldnt put 4 past them.

Everton won't put 4 past them Pat. To state the bleedin obvious, an early goal for the Toffees would make it interesting. But Fiorentina looked far too good last night. I can't see them losing it from here.

So Ginkers, still celebrating last night's win for our Viola boys?

Boys, I watched the Viola from my sick bed - caught a bug off my children. But it was a great performance, real classy display. Everton looked clumsy in comparison but I never count a team out until the job is done. As you say, Trent, first goal will be vital. Obviously, I hope it goes Fiorentina's way - then even I might start to feel confident...
