If there ever was a way to make me happy about the official opening of the new Wembley then this was it. A tripletta from Viola man Giampaolo Pazzini - and what a hat-trick.
A total stonker after 27 seconds to become the first man in history to score at the new stadium and then write his name further into the record books with three. By all accounts, he should have had more. Things look bright for the Viola.

The best hat-trick at Wembley since Geoff Hurst's famous "one legitimate goal" hat-trick in 1966.
...he's one to watch alright. Perhaps Gilardino, Toni, Inzaghi, etc are looking over their shoulders.
So an Italian scoring the first goal at the new stadium and a german scoring the last goal at the old stadium! If I were the FA I would stick to playing games on the road. Looking forward to seeing this young man playing in Europe (hopefully next year) Forza Viola ...........
I thought the last goal was the best. i guess you can sell toni now.
An English friend of mine was at Wembley on Saturday, and she said that Italy played a game to be proud of and that the final result didn't really reflect how the match went. Here's to the next generation...
Martino
Very true, very true. No help from the Russians here.
Trent
I would love to see him thrown straight in at the top level but I think he needs to play more regularly for Fiorentina first.
Brian
I think we can manage Europe but probably only the UEFA Cup after our 15 point handicap.
Pat
I wouldn't rush to sell Luca but, equally, it wouldn't cause me as much pain as it would have last summer.

Italy dominated the closing stages and it was nice to see them produce such good goals. I liked how Pazzini was referred to in some media as "unheard of". Only to you, you twits!
Fiorentina certainly have a lot to look forward to in the coming years.
Not only do they have one of the most highly rated managers in Italy at the helm but they also have Corvino as sporting director who has a great track record of spotting talent. Then they also have so much good young players in Montolivo, Donadel, Pazzini, Pasqual, Lupoli, etc. And they are financially backed by the Della Valle brothers.
Certainly the future is bright for la viola and that's a good thing for Serie A too :)

Fiorentina certainly seem to be concentrating on getting young players into their ranks. I suppose it is the only way to compete with the traditional big guns. It would certainly be nice to get back to the days when there were half a dozen potential winners of Serie A.
